大利烏王第二年、六月一日、永恆主的話由神言人哈該經手、向撒拉獫的兒子、猶大省長所羅巴伯、和約撒答的兒子大祭司約書亞說︰

In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,
|
|

|
「萬軍之永恆主這么說︰這人民說︰重建永恆主之殿的時候還沒有到（稍加點竄翻譯的）。」
|
|
|
Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD's house should be built.
|
|
1:3
|
于是永恆主的話就由神言人哈該經手而來、說︰
|
|
|
Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,
|
|
1:4
|
『這殿荒廢無鑲蓋，而你們自己到住在有鑲蓋的房屋︰難道這就是這樣作的時候么？
|
|
|
Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?
|
|
1:5
|
如今萬軍之永恆主這么說︰你們要用心想想你們所行的。
|
|
|
Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
|
|
1:6
|
你們撒種，倒撒的多，收入的卻少﹔你們吃，卻吃不飽﹔喝，卻喝不足﹔有得穿，卻穿不暖﹔得了工錢，卻把工錢裝到刺破的口袋里！
|
|
|
Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
|
|

|
「萬軍之永恆主這么說︰你們要用心想想你們所行的。
|
|
|
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
|
|
1:8
|
你們要上山地取木料，以重建這殿﹔我就因此喜悅，并且得榮耀︰這是永恆主說的。
|
|
|
Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.
|
|
1:9
|
你們向慕著多，你看，卻得的少﹔你們收到家里，我給吹去。為什么？萬軍之永恆主發神諭說︰因為我的殿荒廢，而你們各人卻逕為自己的房屋奔跑阿。
|
|
|
Ye looked for much, and lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
|
|
1:10
|
故此、為了你們的緣故、天就停降雨露，地也停生土產。
|
|
|
Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.
|
|
1:11
|
我呼叫乾旱（與上『荒廢』一詞同字根）臨到了地上山岡，臨到五谷、新酒、新油、和土地的出產，臨到了人類、牲口、以及人手所勞碌得來的一切東西。」
|
|
|
And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.
|

|
那時撒拉獫的兒子所羅巴伯和約撒答的兒子大祭司約書亞、以及所有剩下的人民、都聽從了永恆主他們的上帝的聲音、和永恆主他們的上帝所差遣的神言人哈該的話﹔人民也在永恆主面前都存著敬畏的心。

Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.

|
永恆主的使者哈該將永恆主的使命對人民說︰「永恆主發神諭說︰是我與你們同在。」
|
|
|
Then spake Haggai the LORD's messenger in the LORD's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.
|
|
1:14
|
永恆主激動了撒拉獫的兒子猶大省長所羅巴伯的心（希伯來文︰靈），和約撒答的兒子大祭司約書亞的心（希伯來文︰靈）以及所有剩下的人民的心（希伯來文︰靈），他們就來，從事于重建為萬軍之永恆主他們的上帝之殿的工作。

|
And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,

|
那時正在六月二十四日。
|
|
|
In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
